Physiotherapy
Physiotherapists are independent primary health care practitioners and experts in movement, exercise and physical function. We provide safe, evidence-based and client-centred rehabilitation services to help get you moving and prevent future injury.
Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is the manipulation of soft tissues of the body including muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints. Registered massage therapists are clinically-oriented healthcare providers that can help alleviate the discomfort associated with every day occupational stresses, muscular over-use and many chronic pain conditions.
Chiropractic
Chiropractors are patient-centred, non-invasive, hands-on, regulated health care professionals focused on your spine, muscles, joints and nervous system. Chiropractors use the best available evidence and clinical expertise to diagnose issues that affect your body’s movement. We treat them without medication or surgery and prevent them from returning. Chiropractic care can also promote health and improve your quality of life, as well as alleviate pain.

A body in motion stays in motion. Be comfortable being uncomfortable. I have learned much about personal health and fitness by simply doing….and of course, many things the hard way! I have also learned that you can be fit but not healthy. I’m a firm believer that everything doesn’t have to be done the same as it always has. Unconventional can lead to fun. Challenge yourself. Physical and mental health are so important for our enjoyment and longevity of life! I will challenge my clients to push themselves to be consistent in their efforts and have fun achieving their personal goals. Dare to be disciplined! I retired in 2021 from a rewarding 21-year career as a City of Kingston Police Officer. Prior to my career in law enforcement, I spent 11 years working for the Royal Bank in various management positions in retail and commercial banking. I was actively involved in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics and the National Police Memorial Run and Ride.

I believe in the power of exercise as medicine. Exercise is a powerful tool to both prevent and treat many lifestyle diseases that dominate our western society. It also plays an integral role in becoming the best and healthiest version of ourselves physically, mentally and emotionally. The human body was designed to move but unfortunately, it is exceedingly easy to neglect, allowing us to overlook our overall well-being. I believe that every person should be empowered to pursue their own highest quality of life, understanding that each individual is on a unique journey. Exercise is a powerful tool to start or continue that pursuit to our own journey of personal excellence and optimum daily functioning.
Throughout my own journey in sport and training, I have learned that consistency and self-belief are the key factors to seeing the improvement and change we desire. What I have also learned is that many times we all need someone to believe alongside us as we make a personal commitment. I want to help others on their own personal journey by facilitating a training environment of positivity, consistency and commitment to my clients.

I look forward to working with clients from many different backgrounds, walks of life and exercise experience to meet your own personal goals and come alongside you in your unique journey! .

When you are injured, the impact on your life is not just physical, but can prevent participation in important areas of your life – such as your job or sport. Without a comprehensive plan for rehabilitation it can be challenging to find a way back to health and activity. It was the dedication, patience, and skill of my team physiotherapist that ultimately allowed me to compete and achieve my goal of swimming in an Olympic final. This experience was the inspiration for my decision to pursue a career helping others to overcome their own physical limitations and achieve their own goals. My unique academic background, clinical experience, and life experience give me a distinct perspective on injury and rehabilitation, particularly with athletes, as well as the impact physiotherapy can have upon my clients’ everyday lives. I use evidence-based practice to optimize physical function and return people to healthy lifestyles and the activities that are meaningful to them.

As a lifelong athlete, I sustained a variety of injuries and experienced the value of physiotherapy during my teen years, sparking my interest in pursuing a career to help others achieve their physical goals as well. I graduated from McMaster University in 2009 with a Masters degree in physiotherapy. While pursuing my degree I had a once in a lifetime experience of working with the Men’s Irish National Basketball team during the European Qualifiers. I have also obtained degrees in Kinesiology and Education. Combining these loves of physical activity, rehab and education has modeled my approach to patient care. I believe that understanding the root problem of injury and movement dysfunction is important for lasting recovery. So too is getting to know the unique, individualized goals and needs of each of my clients. I am dedicated to evidence-based rehabilitation practices and maintaining the highest standard of care. I absolutely love helping people return to doing the things they love to do, whether it’s sport or simply day-to-day activities.

The human mind and body captivate me. We are so adaptable, with the right tools and mindset we can work with any physical or mental challenges that may arise. As a therapist, I spend most of my time helping people get to know their body in a deeper sense. I employ both a hands-on and hands-off approach. My belief is that manual therapy is an appreciable tool used for temporary results, and remedial exercise is used as a way to make those results last. In treatment, I use the two in combination to help empower my clients and guide them back to their normal lives pain-free. My approach revolves around client-centered care. When you walk into treatment, my first question is usually “what’s the plan for today?” because I want to ensure that we are meeting your needs at that moment. Ultimately, my goal is to help you feel confident in your ability to navigate your health.

PHILOSOPHY
Human beings are designed to move. We think better, we feel better and we engage with the world better when we move every day. We don’t all look the same or enjoy the same activities and my goal as a personal trainer is to help you find movement you enjoy and for you to feel good in your body so you can live your best life through physical activity. As a retired elementary school teacher and Queen’s University Faculty of Education instructor, my focus was on creating an environment where children and youth felt safe to play and develop physical literacy skills to be active for life. Helping them make the connection between daily physical activity and their physical, emotional, social and mental health was key to me as an educator. I believe we need similar things whether we are 5 or 85 – places and people to help us realize our potential and feel empowered through physical activity. For thirty years, my work was focused on helping young people understand how movement, in all its forms, is connected to all aspects of their health. I’m now interested in doing the same with people of all ages as a personal trainer. The transition feels like a natural one.
CLIENT BASE
I look forward to working with people at all stages of life. My interest in helping adults learn to move, or learn to move again, while challenging assumptions about aging and what that looks like is what brings me to you. With the right programming we can enter each decade strong and mobile so we can participate in all aspects of living our fullest lives. This might be racing a triathlon, hiking up mountains or portaging a canoe between two lakes. Regardless of your goals, I’ll work with you to help you ‘find your strong’ and build on it. Meeting people where they are, and working with them to meet their unique fitness and lifestyle goals is what motivates me as a trainer. Every BODY was designed to move. Let’s get moving together!

Life is about change and growth, to me, that means improved health is about consistent learning. I believe the best I can do for my clients is to reinforce our sessions by providing tools that will help them create change in their daily lives. I am committed to working alongside my clients to develop a healthier balanced life!
I became passionate about learning and sharing knowledge while completing my 200-hour yoga teacher training in Baja, Mexico. The experience inspired me to become a massage therapist, so I could help people develop better movement and understanding of their own bodies.
As a massage therapist, my intentions are to educate and support individuals of all ages in achieving their health and wellness goals. I make use of both assessment and current research to improve function based on both a client’s current level of mobility and what they need to reach their rehabilitation and fitness objectives.
